The gauntlet has been laid down now by Wanderlei Silva, telling his fans that he’ll finish Leben in Round One. I can’t wait for this fight, guaranteed fireworks.
Wanderlei Silva talks about pulling out from his UFC 116 fight with Sexyama and how disappointing this is to him, his fans, his career, and his family. Tough luck old timer. July 3rd is his birthday as well, so this is sad news all around.
Wanderlei Silva is in the final stages of his preparation for his upcoming fight at UFC 116 against ‘Sexyama’. He heads of to Mark Munoz’s gym for a workout. Watch the training video now.
Former PRIDE champion, Wanderlei Silva has revealed that he won’t consider hanging up the gloves until he’s at least 40 years old after giving himself a new set of challenges he wants to accomplish since dropping to 185 pounds.
“I want to fight over six years, at least until I hit forty. This change of class was good, I had to re-educate myself on the food and I’m feeling pretty good about it.”
On his upcoming July 3rd showdown with Yosihiro Akiyama, “The Axe Murderer” said:
“Akiyama is a pretty tough guy, a good guy… good on the ground, a big strong guy. Akiyama is a judo player originally but has transitioned well to MMA and all but one of his wins have come inside the distance. It will be a very interesting fight, is a great fight for me because he’s a guy who comes forward to play the game, not a guy who runs. I believe it will be a very busy fight, a great show.”
Wanderlei made his middleweight debut against Michael Bisping in February and looked re-invigorated after making the drop. Can he continue his run towards the top of the 185 pound division, giving his fans a few more video highlights to add to their collection?
